Reborn
Prologue
His rough, sun-kissed hand reached out to touch her pale cheek as she felt the sigh leave her lips. Her skin tingled at the mere thought of him as his eyes seemed to be as dark as the heavens that pierced through her. The vulnerability she felt at this man in front of her did not bring her fear, it brought her total abandonment of the restrictions to her person as he neared his body to her own. She did not know this man, yet his breath on her cheek made her ache in places she did not know as decent. Everything parted way for him, even her soul, and he always left her wanting more, needing more.
“I need you cara,” he would whisper, her heart beating so hard it threatened to leave its casing. “I don’t want to need you but I do, every night, and every day.” He touched her face again, his lips closer to hers than they had ever been before this night. She wanted the kiss, she needed it so badly and so greedily that she almost cried with the emotion.
“I need you too,” She whispered back. “Come to me, and never leave, please.” She begged, her independent side shouting at her for letting so much go.
“I will, as soon as I can find you I will never leave again.”
“Again?” She blinked twice at the statement, knowing that she had never been with him before her dreams, so how could he leave her again?
The thoughts had done their damage before she realised it. She was now wide awake and had lost everything she had held on to so tightly moments ago.
“Damn it.” She said aloud as she thumped down on her covers. She had lost him again and she felt the emptiness take over as it did every morning when the dreams ended. She could not keep going through this she thought sadly, as the emptiness quickly made way for the guilt to hit her with full force. She suddenly remembered what day it was as the break in the drapes told her it was daylight; and the day of her wedding.

Armand could not make his breathing slow down and that angered him more than the men who were chasing him. What a day to call his birthday as he ran from the men who only wanted his blood as salvation for his escape. He had hid at the back of the barn for an age as his legs started to ache from the crouching down by the bale of hay. He knew the moment that he rested he would be attacked, and he longed for nothing more than sleep as his exhausted body screamed at him to lie down; but he refused to. Even the thought of dreaming about her stopped him from resting just for a moment. They would take him the second that his eyelids closed and he would not give them the satisfaction. He had a plan to get them off his tail, and to become the greatest warrior who had ever lived reaping vengeance on everyone of them. She had given him the strength. Her call, her song had plagued him for as long as he could remember and she had made him strong enough to survive. Her soft touch had given him hope. A rustle in the grass made him turn quickly as he let himself breath again upon seeing the cause. A chicken had become loose from its pen as it wondered freely to a world unknown; just like him. He would kill for just a few hours sleep to see her again as he turned his thoughts back to his dreams. The other eve when he had slept had been different from all the others. He had nearly kissed her, had gotten so close to feel her lips against his own as he had whispered how much he needed her. She had been as surprised as he had when he had mentioned about never leaving her again. He never knew where the words came from then but they had seemed to make sense to him, just as her being close to him did. The girl, who was becoming a woman in every dream, with the fiery red hair, and the milk-coloured skin, had stopped being just a dream to him a long time ago. He did not understand why he had thoughts of her every time he slept, but he welcomed the realism of them. He absorbed the love she innocently gave as a tonic and wished her real every moment that he was alive. She had given him his sanity, she had given him his strength, and now he was going to repay her by becoming untouchable. He wanted to sleep at night, every night to dream of her, even if it finally lost him.
